Success Story: Natalia

Natalia Image When Natalia first walked through the doors of the Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council (PIC), she was facing uncertainty. A recent high school graduate with experience in healthcare as a Direct Support Professional, Natalia had been unemployed for several months and was eager to return to a career she was passionate about.

Working closely with our Youth Employment Specialist, Natalia enrolled in the Youth Intervention Program (YIP) and Minnesota Youth Program (MYP). Our team helped connect her with community resources and provided personalized support to navigate the challenges of unemployment. With her strong interest in healthcare, Natalia actively engaged in job search activities, submitted applications, and prepared for interviews.

During this time, Natalia received critical support services to help her stay on track—including assistance with rent and phone service—ensuring she could maintain communication with potential employers and access housing while she searched for work.

Natalia’s determination paid off. She is now employed full-time as Direct Care Staff, doing what she loves—supporting others through healthcare services. In addition to her new job, Natalia is also working toward another important goal: earning her driver’s license. She is currently studying with SWIZL to prepare for her licensing exam, continuing to take steps toward greater independence.

Natalia's journey is a powerful reminder of how support, resources, and resilience can come together to create lasting change. We are proud of all that she has accomplished and excited to see where her future leads.
