What is a Career Pathway?

Life’s pathway extends from birth to retirement, with periods of education/training and work along the way. A Career Pathway is a series of connected education and training programs and support services that enables people to secure or advance in employment within a specific industry or occupation.

Why Career Pathways?

  • An opportunity to prepare for and enter a career pathway that leads to long-term, stable employment.
  • Helps individuals prepare move into the educational arena, develop study skills. and increase their academic potential.
  • Helps meet the CareerForce needs of in-demand industries and occupations in southwest Minnesota.

Career Pathway Partners:

The Southwest Minnesota Career Pathway Partnership Team has been working together to deliver quality career training and support in southwest Minnesota since 2003. In 2016, the Southwest Minnesota Career Pathway Partnership earned the Department of Employment and Economic Development’s (DEED) “Exceptional Performance by a Team” award. Key partners include Minnesota West Community & Technical College, Southwest Adult Basic Education Consortium, K-12, Southwest Minnesota CareerForce (Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council, Job Service, Vocational Rehabilitation Services, and Services for the Blind and Hard of Hearing), and local businesses.
