A Season of Gratitude and Growth

As we reflect on 2025 and celebrate the holiday season, Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council is proud to look back on a year of milestones, meaningful impact, and inspiring personal achievements. This year marked our 40th Anniversary, a moment to honor four decades of building pathways and empowering individuals across Southwest Minnesota. At our “Fueling Futures for 40 Years” event, our PIC Chair shared that this milestone is really about “the thousands of lives touched, the futures fueled, and the partnerships built across our 14-county region.”

That message is reflected throughout our 2025 annual report, which highlights both the scale and the human stories behind our work. This year, 249 credentials were earned through our Dislocated Worker and WIOA Adult programs, and participants achieved success rates of 87% and 88% respectively. Public Assistance Programs supported 1,160 clients on their journey to stability, while our Career Pathways Training initiative helped 174 individuals pursue fast-track training in high-demand fields such as welding, CNA, and CDL. Youth services also played a major role, with 149 young people served and more than 5,000 students reached through the Youth Career Connector program across 30 school districts.

20251210 144614 This year’s anniversary also allowed us to recognize the people who have shaped PIC from the very beginning. During our December all-staff celebration, we honored three employees, Julie, Kathy, and Sandy, who have each worked with PIC for all 40 years of the organization’s history. Their dedication, institutional knowledge, and commitment to serving others reflect the heart of our work and the lasting impact made possible through people-driven workforce development.

Behind these numbers are people like Brooklyn, who earned her Surgical Technology degree with High Honors while navigating a challenging pregnancy and long commutes. “The grant from Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council took away my financial burden and allowed me to dedicate more time to my studies,” she shared, a reminder of the difference that targeted support can make.

Another example is Linda, who turned a plant layoff into an opportunity for reinvention. Through the Dislocated Worker Program, she completed her Medical Assistant degree and began a new career at Sanford Clinic. “Getting laid off was scary, but it pushed me toward something better,” she said. “I know I have the skills and confidence to succeed.”

Stories like these show the heart behind the statistics. Every credential earned represents determination. Every successful exit represents stability gained. Every youth event represents exposure to possibilities. And every partnership reflects a community committed to growing together.

As we move into 2026, we remain dedicated to expanding training opportunities, supporting youth and adults across our region, and strengthening the employer partnerships that keep Southwest Minnesota’s workforce strong.

From all of us at PIC, thank you for your support, collaboration, and belief in the power of opportunity. We wish you a warm and joyful holiday season and a bright year ahead.
