Turning a Passion for Helping Children into a Career
For Belen, a career in early childhood education was an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young children. With a desire to help children learn and grow, Belen took steps toward turning that goal into a reality through the Pathways to Prosperity (P2P) On-Ramp to Career Pathways Program.
As she worked toward her career goal, the Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council (PIC) helped make the next step possible by sponsoring her ParaPro class and exam through Adult Basic Education (ABE) in Worthington, Minnesota. This support helped ease the financial burden of training and allowed Belen to focus on building the skills she needed to succeed.
Belen successfully completed her training, and before long, her hard work paid off. She was hired as a Teacher Assistant at Head Start, where she now has the opportunity to support young learners during an important stage of their development.
Today, Belen is building a brighter future for herself while making a positive impact on the children she works with each day. Her journey is a reminder that with determination, access to education, and the right support, individuals can overcome barriers and turn their career goals into reality.
The PIC is proud to have been part of Belen’s journey and wishes her continued success as she helps the next generation learn, grow, and thrive.
