Success Story: Faiz

faiz In 2024, Faiz and his family arrived in Minnesota from Afghanistan with a clear vision: to create a safe and stable future. The journey was not easy, but Faiz brought with him something more powerful than experience and resilience.

From the start, Faiz faced challenges that would test even the strongest individuals. Although he had some English proficiency, he knew that thriving in a new country required more. Without hesitation, he enrolled in English as a Second Language (ESL) classes and committed himself to learning and adapting.

Back in Afghanistan, Faiz had built a career as a certified electrician. But upon arriving in the United States, he was told that none of his credentials would be recognized. For many, this might have been a breaking point. For Faiz, it became fuel. He refused to be discouraged.

Determined to support his family and rebuild his career, he took a job at Walmart. Despite starting over, he brought the same dedication, discipline, and work ethic to his new role. His professionalism and positive attitude quickly made him a valued employee.

Still, Faiz never lost sight of his ultimate goal, returning to his profession as an electrician. With the support of the Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council (PIC), Faiz joined the PIC Electrical Program at Minnesota West. He worked closely with his counselors, Antonio and Dan, who provided not only technical guidance but also the encouragement that helped him push forward during difficult times.

Through hard work, long hours, and unwavering focus, Faiz completed the program and proudly earned his 10-credit electrician certificate from MN West Community and Technical College, a major milestone in his journey.

Today, Faiz stands as a powerful example of what resilience, determination, and the right support can achieve. His story is more than professional success; it is a testament to the strength of the human spirit.

“We are very happy and grateful for programs like MFIP, the Adult Program, and other Minnesota programs. They have provided us with financial stability, employment, and other helpful services. We are very satisfied and thankful for these programs.”
